Kirsten Jordan with her family

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Time is money.” Well, for us busy moms, it’s more like, “Time is sanity.” Juggling the demands of family, career, and, you know, occasional self-care (because mani-pedis are not a luxury, they’re a necessity), it can be a Herculean task to manage it all. But fret not! After years of being on this roller coaster, I’ve picked up a trick or two that I think might just help you reclaim your time.

1. Prioritize, Prioritize, Prioritize!

Before diving into the chaos, list out your tasks for the day. Everything looks more manageable on paper. Then, rank them in order of importance. Remember, not everything that screams for attention is truly urgent. Laundry can wait. Your child’s school play cannot.

2. Time Blocks Are Your Best Friend

Allocate specific chunks of time for specific tasks. This ensures that you don’t get lost in the black hole that is, say, decluttering the playroom. Set a timer if you have to. When it goes off, move to the next task.

3. Embrace the Power of ‘No’

You’re amazing, but you’re not a superhero. If taking on a new project or commitment will compromise your wellbeing or family time, it’s okay to decline. Remember, quality over quantity.

4. CEO Mode: Delegate!

As much as we’d like to, we can’t do everything ourselves. Assign chores to the kids. Consider hiring help where necessary. Or tap into your community for support – you’ll be surprised at how much friends and family are willing to pitch in.

5. Digital Detox

Yes, I’m aware of the irony here, given our online love affair. But trust me, unplugging for even an hour a day can do wonders. Use that time to connect with your family, read a book, or just breathe.

6. Self-Care Isn’t Selfish

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take breaks. It’s not only okay, it’s essential. Whether it’s a quick power nap, a spa day, or a solo coffee run – do it. You’ll return recharged and ready to conquer.

7. Real Estate Tip: Efficient Spaces

Your environment plays a big role in productivity. Organize your home in a way that’s conducive to efficiency. A dedicated workspace, organized kitchen, and clutter-free living spaces can make tasks flow more smoothly.

8. Celebrate Wins, Big and Small

Finished that report? Found matching socks for the kids? Celebrate! Recognizing your achievements boosts morale and motivates you for future tasks.

9. Remember: Perfection is Overrated

Some days, the laundry will pile up. Sometimes, dinner will be takeout. And that’s okay. Aim for progress, not perfection.

10. Family Time is Golden Time

Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life. Spend quality time with your loved ones. These moments are what truly matter.

So, to all my CEO moms out there, remember that while real estate may be about finding the perfect space, life is about creating perfect moments. And with a sprinkle of wit, a dash of determination, and a whole lot of love, we can, and will, master the art of time management.

Keep shining and keep thriving!
